What makes you think he has a shitty attitude? Just curious. Was it from him grumbling about the Sox going after Teixeira last winter? I don't know about him causing any real trouble.

I don't know too much about Ramirez, but it sounds like he has some power potential.

So my guess is right now the plan will look something like Youkilis at third, Victor at 1st, and Varitek and Ramirez at catcher? Maybe Ryan Sheely will spend some time at 1st if they get him, and Victor will switch between there and catcher?

EDIT: Is Kotchman still in the mix too? I haven't thought about baseball that must in a while.

SECOND EDIT: Has Lowell passed the physical yet? Just sayin.

A. Lowell seemed to be the one guy who would complain about not playing enough after the V-Mart trade, and who claimed the club played him too much before the V-Mart trade. He was a logical choice to sit in situations where Varitek had to catch, but openly made his displeasure known. The grumbling from last winter was also a part of it.

B. Ramirez is a toss-up. He CRUSHED the ball at A/AA, and has been average in the bigs. He's still 25, so he's a young guy. Talentwise, it's a solid return for Lowell. There are a lot of people who feel he will be part of any offer that goes Toronto's way, as Toronto apparently loves the guy. He might be this year's Andy Marte.

C. Kotchman is still property of the Red Sox, but it's possible that they will non-tender him.

D. Lowell has not passed a physical, nor has Bud Selig approved the movement of money in the trade.

Damon and Yankees far apart...

Damon, 36, wants a three-year, $39 million or four-year, $52 million deal, sources say. The Yankees are willing to give Damon no more than what the Angels gave outfielder Bobby Abreu before he became a free agent — two years, $19 million.

The gap, then, is at least $20 million, and the Yankees are not likely to bend; they clearly have other options, from Hideki Matsui to Mike Cameron to Mark DeRosa.

Damon, too, is unlikely to bend; his agent, Scott Boras, believes him to be far more athletic and a better long-term investment than Abreu, who is six months younger.

Add $5M --$7m and get Holliday instead of Damon and save 8 years and a better hitter, fielder, etc....
