I watched it like an NBA game, and the last 5 minutes after I turned it on were phenomenal.

That whole Portugal/Spain game was a thriller. One of the few occasions where a really big soccer game delivered on the hype.

I think it's interesting how all of the big named countries (Brazil, Germany, Argentina) have somewhat shat the bed or at least missed early expectations in this first part of the group stage. Even France looked underwhelming against a pretty mediocre Australia.

France-Argentina in the Rd of 16.

And Diego might be in critical condition. I think he's snorted all of Russia's snow-capped peaks like it was "Better Off Dead".

Losing on Russian soil. A Deutsche tradition. At least no need for winter clothes on the sad trek home.

Hoping Belgium can beat France and Croatia beats England...
I think both could realistically happen; Belgium is stacked and Croatia has a nice midfield with Rakitic and Modric.

It's not coming 'ome, ya Spurs wanker.

Prob would've been the most talked about final had it been ENGvFRA. the historical/military references, the "Olde Rival", WIlliam the Conqueror, RIchard Coeur de Lion, the whole thing. England bottlers. Typical.

England's only shot on goal in regular time was Trippier's free kick. They went a whole 94 minutes minutes after that without another shot on the frame.

Didn't Kane have the close range shot blocked by the keeper and then put the follow up off the post later in the first half?

Good point. Not sure if that was scored weirdly or the box score I saw was wrong.

England had so many missed chances early on including this one. They deserved to lose after not converting at least one of them.
