I think the corruption issue in soccer needs to be addressed. There are so many issues of known cheating that go unfixed. Imagine if every Super Bowl had instances of cheating by the refs. If anyone remembers the South Korea / Italy game a few chips back, you cannot deny there is cheating and offsides is a major weak spot.

Bill Simmons, who normally sucks donkey, pretty much sums up the truth of the American soccer inferiority complex. Truth is that the USMNT is good enough now to throw down a horrible gag job against a good team.

People are making a big deal about soccer breaking through in America, thanks to the 2014 World Cup. It’s horseshit, because if this were true, our entire country would be traumatized right now. How do we let that guy behind us for Ronaldo’s desperation cross? How? Did Klinsmann sub in Rahim Moore at the 92-minute mark and I missed it? ... Portugal’s second goal was your basic world-class cross coupled with a multi-defender collapse and a well-done header, which would have been fine, you know, except we were 25 seconds away from advancing to the next fucking round. If I watch one more person on TV say, “If you told me before the tournament we’d have four points after two games, I would have taken it,” I’m gonna throw up. We outplayed them and we choked. We could be spending our Monday making Ronaldo jokes, watching YouTube clips of American sports bars reacting to our go-ahead goal, and wondering who would win a fight between Clint Dempsey and Liam Neeson. This sucks.

Hope Solo's 17-year-old nephew told police he PULLED A GUN on the soccer star to try to get her to stop attacking him ... but it didn't work ... this according to docs obtained by TMZ Sports.

The boy told cops ... 32-year-old Hope appeared to be drinking when she came over to the nephew's Seattle-area home and was upset because she missed a flight.

The boy says Hope thought the boy was talking smack about her and got agitated ... and then told the boy he would never be a pro athlete because he was "too fat and crazy."

The boy says he walked into another room -- but Hope followed and "called me a p**sy because I called my mom."

"I then told her to get her c*nt face out of my house," the boy said to police.

That's when allegedly Hope went on the attack -- grabbing the boy's hair and repeatedly punching him.

"I then went into a back room and got an old gun that does not work, pointed it at her and she kept coming at me. She didn't leave but walked around me cornering me like a shark."

The boy says Solo eventually left the house when he called the cops -- but then tried to get back in the house ... and started attacking the boy's mom (Hope's sister, pictured below) ... so he grabbed a broomstick and began hitting her in the head ... but she kept coming."

Hope's sister says the firearm was actually a BB gun.

Eventually, cops arrived to the home and Solo was arrested for domestic violence ... though she plead not guilty in court Monday and claims she was the real victim.
