flyingelvii {l Wrote}:Let me guess, the premise begins with WAR or fWAR or something like that and then says something about how Trout is a good baserunner and a plus plus defender to Cabrera's minus minus defender and makes fun of the people that explicitly try to define "Value". I agree with a lot of what he says, specifically the baserunning and defender parts, but these articles are more or less fill in the box templates every year, as it was with Verlander vs. Bautista vs. Ellsbury last year.

Basically says WAR is an awesome stat and every website has a different number but no matter whose number you chose Trout "lapped the field" and anyone that doesn't agree is a "Luddite" "trapped in the dark ages"

Yeah the annoying part about statheads is that they can really be elitist pricks sometimes. Of course the same is true for meatheads that say to get off the computer in your mother's basement and watch the actually game. Basically a lot of people in this world suck.

I knew it was only a matter of time before the baseball weirdos brought sabremetrics into this thread.

Wasn't expecting to get much off of CC, but also wasn't expecting JJ to completely fall apart either.

I noticed Andy Petitte still has a huge nose.

The second HR was legit, but never would have occurred if they had played the game in a major league baseball stadium.

Don't disagree that it's a bandbox and I hate that a lob wedge pop fly can make it over the fence in right, but both teams play in it.

Yes, and the team that plays 82 games there can go grab washed up left handed has beens like Ibanez just for that stadium.

True.

And by the way TW... every day while taking my morning pee, I look at picture hanging in my bathroom of Ted Williams with this great quote...

"God may help get you to the plate, but once you are there you are on your own"

That's fantastic. Dude was a walking quote. Had an opinion on everything and was usually right on.

Buck was robbed. Larger turnaround year over year. Sure, the A's won the division, but Yankees didn't collapse like the Rangers did. Not to mention harder division to compete in with more teams.

I would very much enjoy it if the Birds won the AL East this year.

I have some financial reasons why I'd like the team from Tampa to win +250, thought it was a steal

Nice, I agree, I would have had them at even money.

Too many equally flawed teams in the AL East to take the Rays at even money. Any one of those 5 teams could either win the division or finish in last for reasons that have been stated ad nauseum. I am not particularly sold on the people writing off the Yankees or Red Sox at this point - each has too much pitching and players that should return and hit to be much worse than .500. Another reason that the Rays aren't a great bet is because all 5 of those teams have to play each other a shit ton of times.

One of these teams (most likely the Jays) could go nuts and run off 95+ wins, but I am betting that all of them finish between 80 and 92 wins and that the division is a battle to the end.
