It's horrible. Mike Rizzo needs to be fired.

They should hire Frank Rizzo. He'll bring his fuckin' tools.

after pitching 2 days in a row in non-save situations.

this after he puts Henderson out there today despite him having thrown the most pitches of his career the night before.

Fun enough that he gives me a fool's hope that they might crawl back into the WC race.

Leave it to the Wilpons to create a great big distraction in the middle of a wildcard race.

in fairness, they've been in wild card races previously and know how it usually ends. i'd say its a well calculated distraction

That sucked, but six weeks ago they were hovering around .500 and I thought they were done for. It was fun while it lasted, especially when you take a look forward and see that this team has tons of question marks right now...

Cespedes (probably leaving in FA)
David Wright (career likely over, on the books through 2020)
First base, James Loney (an FA who I don't want at first full-time) & Lucas Duda (arbitration eligible with significant injury concerns)
The walking wounded pitching staff and Colon's pending FA

ugh.

There is a positive flip side on this:

Cespedes wants to come back and will probably agree to another deal like the one he signed last winter.
Wright will be back but they will have Reyes as a fall back.
Duda will likely be tendered, but they will have both Conforto and Neil Walker as potential first base options, with Reyes slotting in for Walker at 2b.
Harvey, deGrom, Matz and Wheeler will all be ready for spring training and Gsellman and Lugo have picked up great experience. If Colon resigns, they will have enough depth to fill in when/if someone goes down.
The injuries shouldn't be as bad as this year, as they can't really be worse.

Yes, but the flip side of that is that things never work out for the Ny Mets and you're going to be stuck rooting for that godawful squadron the rest of your life. If any of you have children and you are subjecting them to the Mets AND BC sports, I hope child services steps in.

What's worse... not making the playoffs or losing the wild card game?
I almost think I'd prefer not making the playoffs... thoughts?

Not making the playoffs is way worse.

The one game playoff often gives us tremendous pitching matchups, as we saw Wednesday night.
