Wouldn't it be better if they didn't announce he can't throw to first to the public? Seems like they just made a nice scouting report there (if it wasn't already known).

Unless they're trying to play some Jedi Mind Tricks on them. That would be trippy.

In the next couple of sentences the author talked to scouts and said everyone knew about it.

As for trippy, @TRIPPINGOLNEY is fucking hilarious on the twitter machine.

In Mets related news, Johan had a good start & bullpen -would be nice to see if we can get 80% of the old Johan.

Those guys are absolutely hilarious. What makes it better is that more people follow the fake Francesa than the real one.

Some other good fake ones:
@FakeFredWilpon doesn't tweet much but it is gold when he does
@NotWaltFrazier if you watched a good amount of Knicks games it makes sense, he turns absolutely every tweet into a rhyme

In non-Tebow/Madoff talk: Santana has looked excellent this spring.

I assume he'll be hit by lightning the night before opening day.

Well top prospect Zach Wheeler will miss his next start after spraining his ankle fallling up stairs.

All is right in the world.

Can't see a reason why they wouldn't trade him in July if he's at all effective in the first half of the season. They'd probably pay a majority of the money left on his deal, too. He probably has a no-trade, but I imagine he'd waive it to go to a contender. All that money for three and a half seasons in a Mets uniform.

I like what I'm hearing about this deal with Niese. I'd like to see them sign Pelfrey to something similar. Pelfrey did not meet expectations, but there's nothing wrong with hanging onto someone who's going to get you 200 innings of .500 ball.

Agreed, 25 year old lefties with a cutter/curve combo like that are great. Will he be a 20 game winner? No but I can definitely see him developing into a good #3 on a winning club. For all the saber-nerds he got incredibly unlucky (xFIP, etc).

It's a good deal for both.

As for Pelf, thre's something to be said for taking the ball 30x and logging 200 innings every year.

But he's so maddening. I remember in the last year of Shea (2008), I went to my last 2 games there (oddly enough despite being only a week apart, they were playing the Braves both times & Pelf was pitching both times) and he threw back to back shutouts, he was untouchable. Then he'll go into slobber all over my hands, rub my brow, step off the mound go 30 seconds between pitches mode. I want to yell, you're 6'7" and throw mid 90s throw the fucking ball.

You could have said Mets wins vs David Wright RBIs (as a member of the team) and I think I would still pick Mets wins.

I think this is a 75 win club. They may project better than that in the first half, but I expect they'll trade Santana and regress accordingly.

Agreed about 75-77 wins feels right.

It's all about getting the young arms moving along (Harvey & Familia looks like they'll be here this year, Mejia looks like he's destined for the pen & the prize Wheeler will be here for 2013).

Finally it looks like the system is producing some bats which really hasn't happened since Wright & Reyes.

I'm excited to see a full year (hopefully) out of Duda & Ike -I think both will be around 25/85 (but what will their VORPS be????!?!?)

I'm home at the parents for Easter took today & watching on SNY

Gary narrated the opening video, which was excellent. Showed clips from the first game in NY post-9/11 which I was at, something I'll never forget.

Good for you.

My folks were also at that game. I envy all of you.

All it took was one Brave to get on base for me to remember how much I hate them. The season has indeed arrived.

Haha of all the optimism I have for some of the mets, he's the one that I think is shot. I bet he's in a platoon come July. I will say this, his defense is much better than people said.

Remember when the Mets justified Bay over Holliday because they tracked both of their homers in Bos & Oakland and more of Bay's would go out in Citi :suicide

In fairness, was it the Mets or Boras who said that? I seem to remember the latter. Not saying it isn't something the Mets would drop in the press conference, but I recall Team Boras floating that first.
