I like the first comment from Rolo Tomasi (great reference there):

"Blow a lead with the season on the line, see how hysterical the Phillies fans get"

Oh and since TRE is not here and we know this will become another NY/Boston thread, I'll just go ahead:

I also find it funny he's commenting on other people's relative intelligence levels.

I'm absolutely certain he would be flipping burgers for a living if he could not throw a ball fast. And for the record I said that plenty of times when he was on the Red Sox.

I mean his most famous moment as a Red Sox was parading around the Fenway infield in compression shorts with a Bud Light 30 rack on his head.

Which won't happen this year because they banned beer in the clubhouse. :koolaid

I find it absolutely hilarious that we're 40% through the season and Cliff Lee doesn't have a win yet

hamels 6 years 144 million. They had to do it, but it will be regretted in about year 4.

I know wins are a poor choice of metric, but $24 million/year for a guy who has never won more than 15 games and never finished better than 5th in the Cy Young voting?

Yes, this is the world we live in...

Hamels (28 will be 34) 144,000,000 2012-2018 24 per
Lee (33 will be 36) 120,000,000 2010-2015 24 per
Halladay (35 will be 36) 60,000,000 2011-2013 20 per
Howard (32 - will be 37) 125,000,000 2012-2017 25 per

Amaro is an idiot for the Lee and Howard contracts, but the Hamels and Halladay contracts aren't so bad.

Phillies have kind of a ridiculous payroll these days.

Edit: I just noticed Joe Blanton is making $10.5 mil this year. I wonder how that happened.
