Don Denkinger Step Aside...ASSCLOWN Jim Joyce

999,999 - 1,000,000 -- a close call at first base bang bang and the last out...or a shutout...or a long game the guy is called out whether safe or not.

Now, the guy is in a bang bang play where even if he was safe, the ump calls him out for say a perfect game, a blowout, shutout, no hitter and Jim Joyce does the complete fucking opposite...

What a fucking disgrace...

Here is where the Commissioner in the best interests of baseball should suspend him for a month and eliminate the last at-bat by the Indians..but alas, that will never happen.

The human element of umpiring is what makes baseball great and most close calls are right, but lately the strike and ball calls frame and electronics are mediocre.

The Cardinals lost a World Fucking Series with one horrible call.

So my daughter says that guy should never ump again.

..and some of these new umps have to be part of the game...stars...frustrated pricks some of them...

I have been watching baseball for 50+ years....and I was really shocked ......and you see something new every day.

The world will end soon.

Boy, Leyland was a class and gracious act on MLB...

Said Joyce was a good ump.

Very professional.

Joyce is a fucking moron.

The unwritten rule...anything clsoe and the guy is OUT!

Wow!

After the game, Joyce watched the replay, then went to the Tiger's locker room with tears in his eyes and apologized to Galarraga. Galarraga gave him a hug. I guess there is crying in baseball.

A damned shame all around.

Good ending...Leyland paved the way with that interview.

Thank God...

In the end of the day it's Joyce's fault, but I feel bad for him because he called the play as he saw it on the field. Mistakes happen, just have to move forward.

Coming to MLB in 2011, expanded replay rules. Sox-Yanks will now be 6 hours.

Bring me football season.

Seriously, how the FUCK do you miss that call? That's a horrible call in the 2nd inning of a 2-1 game. In a game where it's the last out of a perfect game, that's literally one of the worst calls in MLB history. After the 2nd out, if I'm the ump, I remind myself to make the out call on anything close at 1st base. Would people complain if replay shows him to be safe? No way. The ump could just say that he thought he was out. Now this turd will live in infamy.

Horrible call - but that's part of baseball. Every single pitch has huge potential for human error. I can think of plenty of worse calls simply based on the fact that it cost one team the game. This call was not outcome determinative and therefore cannot be considered one of the worst calls of all time.

Let's just thank God it wasn't Carlos Zambrano on the mound otherwise this guy's head would be on a pike and body in Z's freezer for future consumption.

Sure, it didn't impact the game itself but the call prevented Galarraga from joining a very exclusive club. To his credit, he's taking the high road on this whereas I, and most people, would be absolutely livid. Joyce's call is not in the same league as the Knoblauch fantom tag or the Jeffrey Maier HR ball but it's about as bad as you can screw up a regular season call.

Nonsense.

Likely, she was fired for not putting out.

Denkinger's actaully was the worst call in sports history.

Cost a team a World Series Championship.

Joyce is small potatoes. The Orioles would never have won versus NY.

bad call, but this is wrong. There is no such unwritten rule. You call it the way you see it...that doesn't change because the guy is one out away from a no-hitter.

"There are so many areas you can use instant replay," Denkinger said, according to the Post. "Maybe instant replay can clean things up. If a play is missed, it can be corrected. I didn't feel that way in '85, but I feel that way now." :koolaid

This.

This will be the worst of the knee-jerk reactions that will result from this freak occurence.

Two favorite parts of this video:

1. Early in the video, the guy looks at his kid and says "Who are you?" then calls for a different kid.
2. A bit later, one of the kids walks up about two feet from the camera and picks his nose.

20 years from now, if someone asks you "Do you remember where you were when Dallas Braden pitched a perfect game?" how are you going to answer?

probably "why the fuck would you ever ask that question?
